Two-Cuts-in-One

At Austin Curls we use various cutting techniques but we are certified Ouidad, It’s really two haircuts in one. The exterior cut which designs the style you want, then the interior cut which is sectioning your hair and carving and slicing into your natural curl pattern to enhance your curl and eliminate the triangle effect.

What’s Your Curl type?

Whether softly spiraled or coily and voluminous, curls are beautiful. However, no curly hair is the same. Every texture is different and understanding your unique pattern is the first step to your hair health.

The four different curl types — Loose, Classic, Tight, and Coily — and a line of products that complement each type is key. Because every curl needs the regimen that treats it right.

Loose Curls

A wavy, relaxed “S” shape curl pattern. This curl type may be non-uniform—straighter at the crown, wavy in the middle, and drier on the ends. Dehydration, damage, and heavy styling products can “straighten” out these curls. These curls need lightweight, curl-amplifying hydration and hold.

Classic Curls

A defined “S” shape pattern tends to be uniform, with a coil shape that extends from root to tip. When dehydrated or damaged, these curls will become frizzy and lose curl definition. Classic curls respond with gentle care and moderate moisture.

Tight Curls

A small to medium corkscrew-like curl pattern throughout the hair. These tight ringlets tend to be finer and lightweight. Without proper moisture, the hair shaft can lose its shape, causing curls to appear dense and unmanageable. Tight curls need deep intense hydration for softness and manageability.

Coily Curls

An angular, “Z” type zig-zag from roots to end. The Z pattern is tightly coiled. This pattern can cause curls to shrink up to 75% of the hair’s actual length. Because this curl type is mostly fine and fragile, it can be weak and break if not cared for properly. Coily curls need protective styling and moisturizing products.
